Garrick Brown joined Cassidy Turley in October 2010. He serves as the Director of Research for Cassidy Turley for Northern California as well as the Director of Retail Research for our retail division, Terranomics.
Garrick works closely with our staff of researchers led by Konrad Knutsen with a special focus on publications, market analytics and forecasting.
He speaks frequently at industry events and has been a keynote speaker at symposiums, conferences and market forecasting events for groups like the Appraisal Institute, Urban Land Institute, CREW (Career Real Estate Women), ICSC (the International Council of Shopping Centers) and PRSM (the Professional Retail Store Management Association).
Garrick works closely with the media and has been quoted in national publications such as the Wall Street Journal, Bloomberg, the Financial Times, USA Today as well as numerous local publications, business journals and trade publications.
Mr. Brown is also the editor of our weekly retail publication, the Terranomics Retail Newsline, which is distributed weekly to over 15,000 retail decision makers nationally.
Garrick is also the founder and creator of the Bay Area Comp Network and Central Valley Comp Network, These groups work closely with the Northern California commercial appraisal community and facilitate the exchange of commercial real estate data among their members.
Prior to Cassidy Turley, Garrick served as the Vice President of Research for Colliers International in Sacramento for eight years. While with Colliers, Garrick also acted as the Director of National Retail Research. Garrick served as the editor of Colliers National Outlook Reports in 2004 and 2005. He served on Colliers Research Council-a steering committee consisting of the firm's most experienced researchers. Mr. Brown won Colliers' Circle of Excellence Award in 2009.
Prior ro joining Colliers in Sacramento, Mr. Brown previously worked with Colliers Turley Martin Tucker (now Cassidy Turley) as the Director of Research in Indianapolis, Indiana. Garrick began his career in commercial real estate research in 1996 with Grubb & Ellis|The Winbury Group in Kansas City, Missouri.
Prior to his career in commercial real estate, Garrick served as the Los Angeles Office Manager for the national social security disability law firm of Binder & Binder.
Garrick also worked as a freelance writer specializing in music, humor and culture. He has been published in a wide range of publications including the Orange County Weekly, Kansas City Pitch Weekly, Indianapolis NUVO, Retro Magazine, Chin Music and Lounge Magazine. He also was a freuquent contributor of liner notes for music releases from Del-Fi Records.
